S. Korea, India to co-produce film, TV drama about legendary Indian queen of ancient Korean kingdom
SEOUL, Feb. 28 (Yonhap) -- Television studios of South Korea and India will co-produce a film and TV drama series about a legendary princess of an ancient Indian kingdom who married a Korean king and started a dynasty.
South Korean drama production house Say On Media said Thursday that it has recently signed an agreement with India's Eros International Group and B&C Group to co-produce a film and a television series adapted from a 2010 Korean novel about Princess Suriratna of the ancient Indian kingdom of Ayuta.
According to the Korean legend, the princess, also known as Heo Hwang-ok, arrived in Korea by boat and started the Garak dynasty by marrying King Suro some 2,000 years ago.
The biographical story will be made into a film and a TV series for simultaneous release in both countries in 2020, the local producer said.
